A magneto requires adequate crankshaft speed to produce enough ignition output to start the engine. When the magneto is hot it takes even higher crankshaft speeds are required. The Mallory Magneto Start Assist Box connects to the engine's starter solenoid and during cranking "boosts" the magneto output, creating a stronger starting spark at even very low crankshaft speeds.
